VANES FOR VANE-TYPE PUMPS

The vane consists of a main body and of two free moving cap pieces. Whilst the main body is manufactured of PPS-GF 40, the cap pieces consist of carbon fibre reinforced PEEK in order to guarantee the required stability and, by means of the PTFE modification, to minimise slide friction.

In the vacuum pump, the vane is installed in the slot of the eccentrically mounted rotor. By means of the centrifugal forces resulting from the high RPM of the rotor, the vanes and its cap pieces are pressed against the wall of the pump housing. The sealed off cavities thus created strongly vary their volumes in the course of a revolution generating the suction effect to create a vacuum.

The performance of the pump places extremely high demands on the dimensional tolerances of the vane.
